Graceworks Lutheran Services, a nonprofit, faith-based organization, is one of the 50 largest employers in the Dayton-Miami Valley region. With a staff of nearly 900 full-time employees who earn over $25 million in wages and pay more than $2 million in payroll taxes, Graceworks generates significant economic impact.
Graceworks Lutheran Services corporate office is located on the 100-acre Bethany Village campus in Centerville, Ohio. Graceworks deployed a $47 million expansion project from 2006 through 2009 that enlarged and transformed Bethany Village, one of Ohio’s most respected continuing Care Retirement Communities.
During 2007, the most robust construction year of the expansion project, Graceworks generated $232 million in economic impact for the Dayton area and tri-state region. Through direct expenditures for goods and services and resulting financial interactions among businesses, consumers and producers in the region, Graceworks produced an incremental 137 regional jobs due to business activity and 440 more regional jobs through the ripple effect that stimulated consumer retail activities. In addition, Graceworks provided more than $3.7 million of uncompensated charity care in 2007 that was not paid by user fees or government funding.
